The Lapini are a species of all female highly aggressive and extremely dangerous endoparasitoid extraterrestrial species native to Luna Lagos. The Lapini are vicious predators on their homeworld but are themselves prey to many large and fearsome carnivores native to the moon. The Lapini share various physical characteristics to both Rabbits and Eusocial Insects native to Earth.

Like wasps, bees, or ants, the Lapini are eusocial, with a fertile Queen breeding a host of subordinate castes. The species is known for their potent acidic blood and bizarre biological life cycle, in which their offspring are implanted inside living hosts where they can feed on the hosts flesh and organs until they are ready to emerge out of the host's mouth.

The Lapini are a member of the Alliance of Planets alongside their sworn rivals, the Lamna Squala. The two species have a long standing history of dislike and violence. As the Lapini find the Lamna Squala to be highly valuiable as hosts for their larvae while the Lamna Squala view the Lapini as as incredibly dangerous and thus highly worthy prey for their trophy hunts.

Appearance

The Lapini appear like anthropomorphic Rabbits, standing on two legs with an upright posture. The species has fur and skin that comes in various shades of pink and purple which provides camoflague amongst the purple vegetation of their homeworld.

Lifecycle

The Lapini have a lifecycle similar many insects, starting out life as an egg inserted into a host, where they will soon hatch into a larvae who will gorge on her host's internal organs until developed enough to survive outside on their own.

Once exiting the host the Lapini will enter a pupal stage and over the course of 2-3 weeks will metamorphose into the worker stage. While in the worker stage Lapini are independent and self-sustaining, though they do have the instinctual need to join a colony and serve a queen. However not all Lapini have this urge and may instead go off on their own to act as their own person.

Lapini workers are fully capable of producing fertile eggs and raising their own offspring though they are limited to being able to lay on 4-8 eggs a year.

Some Lapini, will opt to start their own colonies. These Lapini undergo a second metamorphosis, and after 6-8 weeks will emerge as a Lapini queen. In this stage she will be able to produce several thousand offspring per year.
