Found orbiting dangerously close to the gravity of The Heart of Providence, Varona is one of the closest stars to the Heart capable of maintaining a planetary system, however meager. Varona's single world, the monstrous Taro Nor, hosts an impressive system of moons including Revarea and Nerax, and it was for a brief time the political center of Florathel as the seat of power of the Providence Union. Today, Varona's worlds have been mostly depopulated by the ravages of history.

Planetary System

Taro Nor

Taro Nor, Varona's only planet, is an absolute monster of a gas giant weighing in at approximately seven Jovian masses. Its 29 moons include eight major moons, the largest of which being Revarea and Nerax. Thousands of years ago, the moon system of Taro Nor was controlled by the small nations of United Revarea and Kornerax, which fought together against several other nations in the vicinity of the Heart of Providence in the Peony Wars. These wars ended with the foundation of the Providence Union, and this nation was ruled from Revarea and Nerax for much of its history until the bombardment of Nerax by Elmaren of Kaslar during one of the Union's many civil wars.

Smaller Objects

Due to the gravitational influence of the Heart of Providence, any other planets in the system were thrown into each other, Taro Nor, Varona itself, or ejected into space, resulting in enormous clouds of dust orbiting the star accompanied by a number of tiny dwarf planets and asteroids. These objects are usually host to small self-governing colonies or fortresses. The largest such objects are the three dwarf planets of Selbig, Stelzer, and Saras
