'“There is no hope...” - Mace Sappho

Overview

The Havriel-Sanlagosa Crusade, known by several titles, such as the "Sanlagosa-Havriel War" (and vice versa), "Havriel Genocide," and the "Concordant's Fall," was a major protracted conflict and genocide carried out by the Sanlagosa Concordant, then dominant power of the Ambrosia Galaxy, against the Havriel species. Initiated in 34 EE (Ends Emergence) and concluding in 84 EE. The campaign resulted in the near-total extermination of both the Havriel, Rudyondi, and Evermorian species.

The conflict culminated in the Battle of Finality; resulting in the death of Absalon, the collapse and dismantling of the Concordant government, marking the most significant transformation in the structure of galactic governance from then on.

Origins

A predominantly defensive and extended conflict, the war was initiated by the singular ambitions of the Concordant's sole ruler, the Unbowed Sovereign: Absalon. It was further provoked when he was approached by Juno, the ancient Godqueen of Isariel and one of the last survivors of the aforementioned Inomeni race. Juno informed him that the Golden Sovereign — ruler of the Seraphnim and her ancient adversary — was destined to be reincarnated in Havriel form.

She urged Absalon to eliminate the Havriel, asserting that their shared interest lay in preventing the return of the Sovereign, whose reincarnation would inherently draw the Sanlagosa to her side. As creations of the Seraphnim, the Sanlagosa would be instinctively compelled to follow the Sovereign, risking a complete shift in allegiance under a new leader. Absalon, seizing upon this opportunity, manipulated the Sanlagosa's in-born programmed hatred as former Seraphnim bioweapons by portraying the Havriel as descendants of the Isariel, framing their extermination as a last necessary purge of the final embers of their race from the stars.

As a result, the Sanlagosa carried out the genocide with the appearance of automated precision. Though sapient, they were unable to defy the will of Absalon. With brutal efficiency, they razed Havriel worlds one after another, reducing them to flame and ruin. In response, the Havriel resorted to any means available in a desperate effort to defend themselves.

Absalon's Ultimate Aim

Though Absalon opposed the return of the Golden Sovereign, his primary motive was to divert attention from his true objective: locating the fabled Seraphnim construct known as "Finality," through which he intended to bring about the end of all existence.

Later in life; Absalon became captivated by the ideal of a post-existence universe in which all notions of individuality were nullified. He pursued a unified state of being; one not derived from the Void, which he viewed as empty and incomplete; but rather a singular whole encompassing all existence. He believed this state could be achieved through the Seraphnim's Finality, interpreting the detectible and methodical cosmological collapse of Ambrosia as evidence that creation would ultimately converge into a singular nexus, fulfilling his vision of total oneness.

Absalon, like his creator the Golden Sovereign before him, believed that Finality was the only salvation from the Void. He viewed the Void as a corrosive force that had once again begun to seep its way into the fabric of Ambrosia. To him, subsumption into the Void was a fate ultimately worse than annihilation, an erosion of existence into meaningless oblivion. He regarded the Void as both the inevitable end-state of all reality and a force that necessitated intervention. And ultimately; Absalon saw Finality not only as a means to escape the Void, but as an act of mercy — a universal cessation that would spare the galaxy from a more horrific unraveling demise.

Havriel's Defiance

The Havriel’s ability to withstand the Sanlagosa assault for more than a single day was due in part to extraordinary luck and effective military strategy. Their chance for survival was significantly bolstered by the reverse-engineering of a Seraphnim "Janus Melder," recovered and reconstructed by Chrysanthemum Corsage. In standard practice for the whole of the galaxy, modern interstellar vessels utilize Janus Shift-Drives; engines tuned to vibrate at frequencies corresponding to known Janus Gates, allowing traversal between systems through fixed dimensional corridors. These drives can open gates but not alter their positions.

The Janus Melder, in-contrast, enabled temporary manipulation of these gates. It allowed the user to close and displace Janus Gates before they forcibly realigned to their predetermined interdimensional locations. Unlike conventional interstellar technology, this granted unprecedented control over interstellar access and movement. The Havriel had kept the existence of the Melder secret, intending to use it as strategic leverage against either the Sanlagosa Concordant or the Ambrosia Alliance of United Systems (AAUS). When the Concordant abruptly initiated its campaign of total destruction, the Havriel near instantly activated the device to seal themselves off from immediate annihilation.

Absalon's Discovery

Ironically, though; while the Crusade was intended merely as a distraction to divert his people's attention from his true objective, it was through this very campaign that Absalon uncovered the location of the "Key to End's Beginning," one of four sacred components required to activate Finality, on the surface of one the Havriel's worlds: Attainment. The Seraphnim had left the Key, alongside its kin, behind as a contingency, to be used in the event that the Void returned in some distant future, allowing that generation of life to defend itself in a manner akin to their own should they need to.

Absalon would retrieve the Key in secret, orchestrating a precision strike under the guise of a routine purge operation. Though his plans would be ultimately discovered by the duo of Syx Corsage and Seven Novum; beginning his undoing, who would give chase after he had retrieved the key and made a mad dash towards the now rediscovered Seraphnim Forgeworld of "Remembrance."

History (WIP)

Preamble (1 EE - 34 EE)

Throughout the early decades of the End's Emergence, Absalon advanced steadily toward the realization of his ultimate goal: the activation of Finality, the ancient Seraphnim superweapon. He sought to unleash a wave of Alizarin on such a scale that it would dissolve all existence into a Devoid unstate; a final erasure of Identity . This act, in Absalon’s warped ideology, was not destruction for its own sake but a form of supreme "mercy"; a preemptive salvation from the impending return of the Void of Antaroth, whose resurgence he believed to be inevitable and already looming on the cosmic horizon. The fate of utter annihilation he believed to be one unwanted by existence; that being without Identity was ultimately preferable to total-eradicated non-existence.

In 1 EE, he made discovery of an ancient and derelict Seraphnim orbital cache; one set adrift in interstellar space. Shielded from the corrosive effects of the Amaranth by a still-active Horizon Effect generator, the structure had survived the ravages of the infinite Amaranth which drenches interstellar space that would otherwise utterly annihilate it. Within the cache, Absalon located a partially degraded mapping array; and though much of its data was unreadable, he successfully extracted key fragments which confirmed the existence and general proximity of the fabled “Keys to End’s Emergence.” These entities were necessary components required to activate Finality and bring about the systemic end of galactic identity.

The array suggested that three of the Keys were located on worlds within relative proximity to one another, significantly narrowing the scope of Absalon’s search. However, the exact identities of the target worlds remained obscured. In a galaxy spanning trillions of systems, even this narrowed field would be a vast and daunting process of elimination. However, something in his mind told him the location of these prophesized worlds was cosmically close; likely within the Realm of Resonance exclusively. He felt as if Ambrosia itself was speaking to him, demanding release; to mercy-kill it and guiding his hand.
