'The Vaurat got lucky with Konax - And they've decided to make it everyone else's problem.'

Konax is the homeworld of the Vaurat, and the capital of the Vauratin Empire. Located in orbit around the Impri Black Hole, the world originally began as a rouge planet, which eventually became captured by the gravitational pull, and established a stable orbit. From there, the conditions of the local Seed Cluster began to impact it, and life began to evolve, eventually resulting in a wide variety of incredibly dangerous fauna, flora, and the Vaurat species.

Uniquely, Konax is a world which is capable of supporting many different types of non-native life - However, those non-native lifeforms will often find themselves at the mercy of the innumerable dangers found on the planet. Throughout much of it's history, the Vaurat themselves have fought against the nature of their world. It is claimed that this war against it's own wildlife is what caused the Vaurat to form cities to begin with.

The continued survival of Konax as a planet has been largely, and regularly, down to luck - To a sufficiently advanced and determined civilization, Konax would have been an ideal candidate for colonization. However, it is relatively isolated from other nearby species and civilizations, and many of them did not venture near Impri. The black hole has also absorbed many astronomical threats such as meteorites, comets, and asteroids that would otherwise pose a threat to Konax. There is even evidence of previous civilizations existing in the area, with myths and legends of other inhabited worlds which were absorbed and destroyed by Impri, or nearby stars or other phenomena. Unopposed, and in spite of the many disadvantages presented by the world, the system, and their own internal bickering and incompetency, made Konax the de-facto superpower within this region of space, allowing the Vaurat to establish themselves as the regional powerhouse in the form of the Vauratin Empire.

As the Capital of the empire, it has held near absolute central authority over the rest of the worlds within, and had a large degree of prominence within the Alliance of Five. A world with a strong political history, it is also the centre of a recent breakdown of the order of the Empire, with the threat of civil war looming over it by the Federation year of 149.

Description

Konax is a world made up of one large landmass, and thousands of smaller landmasses in the surrounding oceans. A warm planet, it is covered in jungles and forests which teem with insect-like life. Even much of it's aquatic life takes an insect-like form.

The world possesses no moons, and is entirely on it's own within it's solar system - No other worlds orbit the same black hole as Konax.
