The Jotnar known as Pestilence is actually a colony of thousands of different organisms, a species of Mesozoic Locust in a swarm, who first appeared in Cairo, Egypt. Pestilence seemingly operates as a hive mind with an alpha, or queen, located in the “head” area of the swarm.

This queen is a separate species from the locust, as though she has never been clearly photographed or videotaped, the existing evidence shows a reptilian organism. Though the swarm tends to take the appearance of the unrelated queen, Pestilence is a shapeshifter in essence, able to recombine and rearrange herself as effortlessly and quickly as her swarm
