General Development

High

Matoehdahn is a red dwarf star in Aylathiya home of the Arkhosians. One of the smaller and dimmer stars in Aylathiya, Matoehdahn's four remaining planets orbit in a disk of their destroyed siblings. Like Matoehdahn was returned to its young form as a proto-star, the star entertains a disk of objects. While its planets have swept up much of this disk, it remains a defining feature of the system. Beyond the frost-line lies the Snow Field, the region of the disk filled with a mixture of natural icy bodies and frozen metal scraps.

Large rings, toruses, cylinders, and structures of many other shapes make up the bulk of Matoehdahn's disk. While once the seat of the mighty Matoehdahn Contract, its current inhabitants lost the ability to effectively produce these structures. Its surviving planets had their innards scattered throughout the system, only for their gravity to reclaim them, inadvertently destroying much of their surface. With the orbits of the system so cluttered, remaining in orbit of these planets is quite dangerous. Small bits of metal, plastic, or even paint traveling at multiple kilometers per second can mean the end for orbiting stations. The danger of this situation is that effective infrastructure to protect planets from the constant rain of ruins only recently became possible.

Arkholst controls as much of the star system as it is able, but the preponderance of large objects makes tracking of spacecraft difficult.

Worlds

Raelka

Raelka is a cratered world constantly bombarded by ultra-hard alloy falling from space. Its thin atmosphere protects from all but the largest bits of debris, but around this star, such protection is not enough. Arkholst does not control Raelka, instead, a coalition of clans who reside in the cracks in its frozen mantle do. The Raelka Contract operates hundreds of slow-moving city-sized sifters that gather the valuable material Raelka's gravity attracts. With the atmosphere vaporizing low-strength metal, what remains is purified nuggets of strong alloy, rich in Mythrides and other valuable metals. Raelka seeks membership in the Commonwealth of Aggregate of Aylathiya but the newly-created Arkholst seeks total system dominance, the rare status and prestige that comes with a single nation controlling all of a star system.

Bellataine

Bellataine is the largest planet orbiting Matoehdahn. Its once-impressive ring system had been replaced by a cloud of debris, usually with material from its very own rings. Lacking in large spherical moons due to intense harvesting, Bellataine still retains a large population of over half a trillion in its libration points, the points in which gravity equalizes between two massive objects, in this case, Bellataine and its sun. Billions of objects crowd into these points, most of which find themselves orbiting in front or behind Bellataine.

These large stores of resources make Bellataine an industrial powerhouse. Most people living around Bellataine reside in its exosphere, the thin air cleans space but orbiting there comes at the cost of constant orbit maintenance. Large fusion-powered factories orbit much lower into the atmosphere, filtering out helium-3 and deuterium to melt down Matoehdahn's ruins. Over a quarter of Bellataine's population lives in its atmosphere, prompting the ambitious calls to oxygenate its atmosphere. With a large amount of carbon dioxide present and minimal methane, the Matoehdahn Contract may have already attempted.

Sakijast

Sakijast is the homeworld of the Arkhosians and its second most populated world.
