Unique Properties

Allows for inter-operation between electronics and thaumaturgy.

Though electronic computers remain the dominant variety across Cosmoria, in certain use cases, and certain areas, a type of computer making use of both electronic circutry and neural matter is preferred: an electroneural computer. These computers are mostly used in the areas of artificial intelligence and thaumic computing. The place where they are by far the most common is in Lowiras, where the highly spiritual population prefers to interface with computers in a telepathic manner, as well as utilize the Noosphere as a medium for their internet.

Concepts

Simulated Mind

An electroneural computer has the capability to process data at the level of ideals rather than bits. The process varies based on brain structure, but the electronic components somehow stimulate the neurons to activate certain concepts in the "brain." Philosophers engage in great debates over whether this makes the computer actually conscious or even sapient.

Across Cosmoria

Lowiras

During the Andvaris ordeal, electronic computers became unpopular in Lowiras due to the fact that Andvaris suppressed traditional interstellar travel and communication. Coinciding with a period of spiritual awakening, different nations of Lowiras developed electroneural tech simultaneously in order to establish a cluster-wide internet to facilitate communication through their section of the Noosphere, which was a manner Andvaris was unable to detect. After the bore from which the Andvaris Swarm came was sealed by the 24 companions, interstellar travel was no longer suppressed; however, because of the speed of telepathic communication and the spirituality of Lowiras, electroneural computing remained the almost sole method of computing there.
