Overview

Mystara is a legendary female Rufescent-Noctis-Umbra, and is the sole-bearer of the tile of the "Irredeemable," an epithet for Creation's sole being forged from the very concept of evil and Darkness and groomed to be the Herald of the Great Unifierthe progenitor of Conflict and Contradiction. As a result, Mystara is amongst the most pivotal figures in all of universal history—likely the single most if one is speaking on terms of sheer narrative necessity. Her actions have often led to the greatest moments of change within the Ambrosia, and she herself once served as the dominant power over the Galaxy.

To achieve these extraordinary feats, Mystara was bestowed with the mythical "End in Sight," a title given to those who have achieved the ability to see the Line to the End, an inherency in the universe. This manifests as the visage of Imagindarium itself upon her eye, symbolizing the gift of true vision and, consequently, absolute knowledge.

Beyond Redemption

Mystara was, is, and forever will be beyond redemption. She embodies pure vileness, venom, wretchedness, pain, devastation, and damnation. Her evil has permanently embedded itself upon the face of reality for all time. No matter what form the universe takes, the lingering darkness of the Herald of Unity shall forever remain apparent upon the Cosmos.

Through her Line to the End, Mystara believed all of reality was meant for her alone. She viewed the universe as her personal experiment ground, seeing living beings as mere resources to be taken for any purpose she desired. Yet, she was plagued by discontentment, frustrated by the universe’s limitations. She longed to be all things at all times—every race, every world, every gender, every individual, whether living or deceased.

In her revelation, she saw that at time’s end, she would become the sole entity in all existence—following her slaying of the "Pure of Heart," the maxim of Light, Seven Novum. Her mind contained a singular drive: to bring about this ultimate battle with Seven. To achieve this, she was endowed with immense intelligence and knowledge, but at the cost of all compassion, care, and morality. This ensured the eternal struggle between good and evil, which dictated the universe’s greatest changes.

With her viewing of the Line to the End, Mystara believed that all of reality was meant for her alone, viewing the universe as her personal experiment ground, taking anything she desired for whatever reason she wanted, and seeing other living beings as mere resources. She was plagued by discontentment, constantly frustrated by the limits and restrictions the universe imposed on her. She desired to be all things at all times—every race, every world, every gender, every individual, both those who had succumbed to the universe's entropy and those who currently existed.

This revelation also spoke to her mind that at time's end, she would become the sole entity in all existence, after her slaying of the universe's "Pure of Heart," and maxim of Light; Seven Novum, Her mind contains only the drive to bring about her battle with seven and, to achieve this, she was endowed with immense knowledge and intelligence. But with that wisdom came the purging of compassion, care, and morality. This was done to emphasize the eternal battle between good and evil, which drives the most significant changes in the universe. If great forces of good are to arise, a greater force of evil must be there to challenge them.

Mystara played her part in the Line to the End perfectly, committing countless atrocities. From killing her own mother, Nemesis, so she could use her heart to power a superweapon, to the death of her matriarch, the Typhonian Gellel, after which she took control of the Noctis-Umbra for herself. Upon arriving in Ambrosia, she spread her evil across the stars, crafting mechanical horrors to ravage the universe.

During her battle with her rival, Gladio-Mankano, she was shown the truth of her existence but could not accept that a force beyond her guided her actions. In her wrath, she tormented Gladio-Mankano, forcing him to witness the destruction of everything he loved and created, before sealing him in an eternal prison of repeated, self-contained misery. Ultimately, she joined the Etymology, alongside other powerful beings, not out of a desire for cooperation, but to avoid her own destruction and eventually eliminate her competition for universal domination.

Her creations bordered on the level of godhood, and she herself ascended to god-like power; able to create worlds, races, and empires on a whim. Yet, she could never be satisfied. The fact that events in the universe occurred without her intervention drove her mad with discontent, whether it was a grain of sand moved by the wind or the fall of an intragalactic empire. Whenever a sapient being made a choice she did not determine, it left her furious. The fact that she shared power with the other Ten Supreme Authorities was her greatest source of frustration. Mystara could only be satisfied if she could merge all that exists into herself—every individual, world, race, particle, or atom in existence. As long as there was even one other force, object, or energy in existence, she could never be content. To her, there could only ever be one: she needed to be everything that is, ever was, or ever will be.

She created entire species and empires, discarding them without remorse once their purpose was fulfilled or if they became a threat. Among her most infamous twisted creations, and likely the greatest example of her evil was the Oblivione—a mechanical curse that condemned its victims to eternal life, their souls permanently tethered to a hollow husk of a body. This cruel fate forever barred them from joining Libation's Great Collective. She believed that no one deserved to pass into the afterlife without her permission and that defiance should be met with eternal subjugation, even in death.

When her husband—Shedrevin—turned away from her, repelled by her descent into darkness, she confronted him in a battle of devastating magnitude. In the end, she killed him and inflicted a fate worse than death—trapping his mind in an endless loop of misery and subservience as her "Silhouette Guardian." To her, this act was not only retribution, but a response to what she perceived as the greatest betrayal ever committed against her.

Mystara eventually learned that good and evil were measurable aspects of reality dictating all events in the universe, fully acknowledging that she existed on the dark side of that delicate scale. With this revelation, she began to manipulate both good and evil to see how much change she could bring about in existence. However, as a being of pure darkness, all her "good" deeds were hidden means to commit even greater evil. For instance, she might offer the downtrodden masses a way to lift themselves from suffering, only to then set their children ablaze and destroy them all.

Her constant tampering with light and darkness eventually attracted the attention of the ambivalent Sentient Power, the Golden Sovereign, who bestowed upon her the Mantle of Change. However, she cared little for this "gift," despising that yet another being existed beyond her.

Her greatest achievement came with the revelation of the Great Unifier's existence, who revealed that it had guided Mystara throughout her life. The Great Unifier showed her that the Ultimate End, the very reason for the universe's creation, depended on her existence more than nearly any other being. It told her that the pivotal moment had arrived, and she would construct the very avatar of unity, the great God Legion. Finally gaining a measure of contentment, she, under the Great Unifier's guidance, birthed the most powerful creation to ever inhabit the universe, the God Legion (CYREX).

She was fully aware of the AI's future "rebellion" and the near-universal destruction it would cause, as she set it in motion to ensure it would come to pass. After the Red Galaxy Event and the subsequent death of nearly all life, she departed Ambrosia for the Thavma Thoroughfare, crafting a realm where she could observe and await her role in the End, Mysterium.

From the boundaries of her crafted reality, she manipulated the surrounding realms of existence within Thavma, particularly the Mavimyst and its plane of Haven. From her shadow throne, she was once again contacted by her master, the Great Unifier. It would tell her that it would cause an Amaranth Contravene to birth an Heir who would be whispered her name, bearing the name "Mystara" as they awaited the day their function in reality would be made manifest. This One True Heir would bear the Amaranth Contravene that would awaken her crafted God Legion from its long slumber, so that the Great Unifier might do battle with the Destined Two and bring about the Ultimate End.
