On the 15th of Lauver 1972 three men called Emmet Aitherlin, Jay Brady and Aidan Davies from the Sonarian military had most likely one of the smartest ideas in the history of the Sonar Railway System. They thougt of an engine that would be able to drive underwater, similar to a submarine.
Before they started everything they needed a design- so they settled on a special streamlined design that included covering most of the wheels and having a tender for storage, sleeping quarters and a big turbine at the back and bottom for extra speed and height under water, three double funnels under high pressure steam to blow it down, a big area in the front for water which is to power the cylinders and add more weight in the front, a big ash pit under the firebox for more weight at the back of the engine and a 2-6-0 weel arrangement with a 6 weel tender made with a magnetic material. This engine took 4 years of testing, developing and needing to invent a new metal before it could work. When it was done it was quite worth the wait...
After the 4 years of development the engine was able to reach a whopping 84 km/h (52 m/h) under the water and 92 km/h (57 m/h) on land, the engine was able to go off and on rail again without issue and was almost unspottable for the enemy.
The first test was done on the 19th of Lauver 1976, 4 years and 4 days after it was built, the submarine engine performed great it was undetected and the battle was over faster than the enemy could ever imagine. The train was brought back to the harbour and it's still in service untill this day. There are other types too now, but they're were all based off of the original engine no one would forget. Not even the enemy.
