Its most interesting physical feature is an utter lack of stars that are younger than 2.4 billion years, caused by an event known as the Morid Flash, which also wiped out all life in the galaxy and precluded the formation of new planets. This resulted in an utterly lifeless galaxy in the modern day. Due to its distance and lack of intelligent species, Morid remains unclaimed by any nation. |

The Galaxy of Death is closest to the Ejeunor, ironically one of the innermost satellites of Morid's parent galaxy, Florathel. However, it is still nearly three million light-years away from Florathel. Morid therefore stands alone in its region of space, and is hypothesized to be speeding towards the Myrmidan where it will be ejected from the gravitational pull of the universe itself. In the far future, the galaxy will be utterly alone, with absolutely nothing reachable or even visible from it. |

Morid is has an incredibly monotonous structure. As such, it is divided into only two non-arbitrary regions. The Core is the densest region of the galaxy centered around the black hole Malkathus, and constitutes its visible borders. It contains all major planets within the galaxy. The Halo is the region formed as the galaxy becomes less and less dense, eventually merging with intergalactic space. The Halo contains an assortment of globular clusters, none of which have been given proper names. |
|||
To this day, nomads continue to mimic the society of the MHC, although not intentionally. Morid has gathered many asteroids, comets, and dust once a part of other star systems. Left alone for billions of years, this dust may become a small arm in Cosmoria itself. Nomads gather what they need, whether volatile ices or nutrients for crops, before fleeing to another region. These mostly Norlin nomads never cooperate with xenologists, but those captured during military actions or by over-zealous researchers usually report the same reasoning for this behavior. They stay in small groups and attempt to be as invisible as possible lest another group destroys them. With resources so scarce in this region, various bands, clans, or hoards have grown mistrustful of one another. Remaining in one place for too long runs the risk of encountering a stronger group and, while they usually are peaceful encounters, risking a hostile encounter is far too dangerous. |

Morid is theorized to have formed roughly 5.5 billion years ago alongside its parent galaxy. It was then packed with a large number of highly massive stars, rendering the galaxy uninhabitable until roughly 5 billion years ago. Presumably, the first life in the galaxy started around this time, and no one has any idea what it was like because it died immediately. After this, life formed and stuck around, slowly evolving in complexity and culminating in intelligence ~10 million years ago. |

Roughly 9 million years ago, a species arose on the planet Dalkor. This species rapidly expanded and took control of all the other worlds and species in the galaxy, forming the Moridian High Command. This nation is only known from archaeological evidence, as its bones were moldering by even the time of the Providence Union, so virtually nothing is known about its governance. |

===Morid Flash=== |
|||
TO BE REDONE<!--The High Command met its end when something (be it natural or artificial) caused roughly 1/3 of the remaining interstellar gas to simultaneously collapse into a series of incredibly high mass stars. These stars were very short-lived, and went hypernova nearly simultaneously, emitting enough radiation to sterilize the galaxy. This also ionized the remaining gas and threw it out of the galaxy, resulting in the creation of a large bubble of ionized gas surrounding the galaxy. The lack of gas precluded the creation of new stars, new planets, and therefore new life, and therefore the galaxy remains dead to this day. --> |
|||
===Aftermath and Modern Day=== |
|||
The Providence Union was preparing for a colonization of Morid at the time of its fall, but it was never launched. Today, there are many archaeologists that have made a permanent home of Morid, and they have created a pseudo-nation to help govern the galaxy and make it a safer place to conduct research on the huge amounts of ruins there. |

Morid
Between Florathel and Zalanthium
164670 Light Minutes (19800 AU)
Morid is a mostly empty region between Florathel and Zalanthium. While the region is mostly devoid of anything but a scattering of asteroids, these asteroids were the basis of an ancient civilization called the Moridian High Command which took advantage of the low gravity to spread across the entire region. Not much evidence has survived the ten million years between the MHC and today, but what does remain clues archeologists into a surprisingly advanced society for the time.
The Moridian High Command had figured out a way to unify the various peoples of Morid, but how exactly it managed to break through this seemingly natural barrier is unknown. By studying existing nomads, xenologists have worked with archeologists to construct a more complete picture of this region's history. Since the Moridian High Command, however, there have been few nations willing to invest the great deal of resources it would take to keep this region under control. Scattered military bases from the UNF Navy represent the bulk of Morid's civilization, and even up to one percent of its population by the more conservative censuses.
