Finn Adams is a member of Sonar's military, 24 years old—still pretty young—but a good fighter and friend. One day, a battle he attended to was over and he was allowed to work at the new harbour base, Base 3. He helped move bags, boxes and materials all over the harbour, loaded trains constantly and helped where he was needed. He was a fast learner and soon started helping with work at Ironhorse Innovations and driving the little mountain train going up to the second part of the military base.
A month or two into working at the harbour, the air raid siren started going off. Everyone got to their positions, except for Finn, who didn't want to go hide in the bunker. He ran to the nearest plane, flew up with the rest of the squad and fired away at all the enemies he saw. "0–1," he thought as he shot the first one down. The plane fell down from the sky like a brick, into the water he flew… Survival was not possible for them. He shot the next one down. "0–2," he thought. The battle kept on going and was soon over. It was an easy win for Base 3. Everyone cheered as they reached the ground. The boss of the base came and told them that if they wanted to go on vacation for a week they could. So, Finn decided to go and visit his wife Mrs. Gwynn Smith.
The next day, he hopped on the train and waited impatiently. The train started with a heavy puff and a big whoosh of steam. It was only a ten minute trip, so he just waited and looked out of the window, still impatient to see his wife. The train arrived right on time and he rushed out of the train. He walked around town until he was at his house. He rang the door bell and knocked twice. The door opened and they instantly hugged each other, as Finn was finally home…
The first day, he got used to his house again and together they ate a delicious meal. On the second day, they went to the movie theatre and watched a romantic movie. The third day they visited their old friends and went to a pub. It had been fun to be around his friends again, but…
It was day four when the air raid alarm went off again; however, this time it wasn't an easy fight. It was a massive ambush with too many planes to handle for the air force. They switched over to guns, but the ambush was too big and destroyed half of the town and rail network. They bombed the railway bridge, part of the train station, and part of the town. There was nothing they could do. The next day, Finn recieved a letter that he couldn't return to the base that week because the rail network was down. So, he stayed home for a bit more.
In the mean time, he had more fun times with Mrs. Gwynn and they were both very happy for the two more weeks Finn needed to wait. Finally, the rail network was back up. Finn could go back to the base (or at least that was what he thought). He stepped on the train and waved goodbye to Gwynn as the train departed.
The train entered the long tunnel as Finn daydreamed off. The train ride was going well, until they exited the tunnel… The train flew off the tracks into a field going at 146 km/h (91 mph). Luggage and people flew around, and the second to last coach exploded as the train came to a stop. Some people ran to the next train station and the fire and rescue crew raced to the scene. Soon, people were being transported to the hospital and the fire was being put out. Apparently, someone took some pieces of rail off the track and caused the train to derail. Finn was shocked but unharmed. When he returned, he was put on harbour duty. Again, he worked around the harbour for another while.
After a while, his boss saw that his work effort wasn't as high, so Finn was dismissed for another month. He came home devastated and lived on the couch for three days. Then, he went shopping with Gwynn and when they came back, for the third time that month, the air raid siren went off. This time, it didn't end well. Once again, everything got bombed and it looked like they were in the clear until a plane flew overhead and dropped a bomb. Finn and Gwynn hugged each other as they said goodbye, both crying.
And that was the story of Finn Adams, a man who worked hard, was friendly to everyone, and had a soft spot for his wife and work…
Rest in peace Mr. Finn Adams and Mrs. Gwynn Smith.
