The everlasting campaign to unite Martial Space has resulted in a lineage of empires and states which claim the Crown—the divine right to rule. Each successive empire has built upon this notion of sovereignty, without which, ruling such a diverse volume of space would be impossible. The modern crown is built on the notion of popular sovereignty; the people of Martial Space are its rulers. The bearer of the people's will is a single individual, the Imperator. The Imperator's court, in practice more similar to a parliament, is the Greater Martial Consilium.

The Greater Martial Consilium is a transnational congress made up of all states in Martial Space. The Consilium promotes peaceful relations between its members, called allods, through diplomacy just as often as force. The Consilium is headquartered in Lyonesse, Eos, existing in neutral territory rather than under any allodium, or the land held by an allod. Allods retain the archaic titles of the old aristocracy who ruled the Dominion of Astraeus, and in many places, the noble class continues to rule.
The Greater Martial Consilium (G.M.C.) (usually referred to as the GM) is a large monarchy located primarily within Martial Space in Via Aylathiya as well as portions of Ventemir. Made up of of five duchies, one seigniory, and one grand duchy. The G.M.C. has influence over 41.5 billion stars and a combined population of 80.8 quintillion individuals. For a nation of its size, its population is somewhat low; similarly-sized nations often have many more inhabitants. The Consilium has developed a cohesive internal market and Hyperlane network. It is the youngest nation to be considered a superpower at 2,179 years old, although its designation as such is hotly debated. Its large size and impressive strength are thanks only to the continual habitation and development of Martial Space for the past 100,000 years.

Established with the Consilium was the Aurora Commission, the Consilium's executive branch. Responsible for enforcing Consilium resolutions, the Aurora Commission handles taxation, inter-navy and army coordination, and public works too large for allods to construct. The Imperator does not have direct command over the Aurora Commission, but does exercise a great deal of soft power. The president of the Aurora Commission holds the title of heir apparent until an heir is named.
The modern Consilium is the third in a series of united Martial states in history. It was established by the Treaty of Hiroseh originally as a trade union. After almost one thousand years of this, the Duchies were so integrated that they were essentially one nation. The various dukes within Martial Space took note of this and decided to officially unite under one banner. Once united, the various monarchs would be able to further their power on the galactic scale far more effectively, causing them to sign the "Second Treaty of Hiroseh," officially creating the Greater Martial Consilium in 97,821.

The Consilium was established by the Treaty of Hiroseh and the Edict of Decency after the War of the Ancients devastated Martial Space and wider Aylathiya. The Drusidia extended its ruling body, also called a Consilium, to include all of Martial Space. After winning the war, Martial nobles divided Sedrua amongst themselves. The resulting scramble for Sedruan lands caused a great deal of instability and contributed to Aylathiya's Ignominy. Following this conflict and the death of Imperatrix Ohko was the secession of the Commonwealth of Aggregate Aylathiya.
The duchies composing the Consilium were founded on the ideals of Neo-Terranism, the belief that only certain species are truly sapient based on mostly arbitrary characteristics. Neo-Terranist belief has been largely reformed throughout the ages, and, as of late, is more akin to a political philosophy centered on individualism. The modern GM government recognizes all sapient species as sapient, even if the populous is slow to accept what they call "aliens." The government spends over 13% of its GDP on the military, by far the highest ratio of any nation nearby. As a result, its military is widely considered to be unmatched by most of its neighbors.

Currently, Martial Space wields significant international influence, particularly in economic areas. Liberalization has grown the economy immensely, and grew foreign investment from Florathel and Sagittarium. The new economy, one in which the crown guarantees property rights, is tumultuous. The old aristocracy has tried multiple times to destroy the new capitalist class, resulting in conflicts such as Jezebel's War. This new complicated system is the object of most resolutions now passed in the Consilium.
The space making up the Consilium, for much of its history, has been a set of nigh-constantly fighting monarchies all descended from the Triumvirate Civilization after it finally collapsed in 23,333 CE. Afterwards, it was replaced by the Neo-Terran Co-prosperity Sphere. Martial Space would once again reunite once under the Dominium of United Duchies in 60,134 CE. The last "united" nation of Martial Space is the modern GM, with other Martial nations having its emperor as head of state instead of government. Nations once under the control are considered to be in Martial Space, meaning that nations not part of the Consilium, such as the Fusion of Crowns, Rendell, Krystallaus, have similar cultures, heritage, and government systems to the GM.

History
United, the Consilium has become a major power. In recent years, it has opened itself up to various international organizations such as the Intergalactic Council. Its recent opening to international organization and trade allowed the quality of life to increase greatly for the average GM citizen. While reforms to make the country democratic are likely a long way off, other recent reforms have made the nation far less hostile to non-humanoid species. As quality of life rapidly increases, for the first time in history, its region could be considered fully developed.
Origin of the Crown
{| border="2" width="95%"
The history of the Greater Martial Consilium begins dozens of millennia before its official founding date. It began around the small red dwarf of Tryvya. In this system, Triumvirate's founders drafted the articles that would ensure cooperation. Thus begins history, with sovereignty over the region being split between three immortal beings-turned-deities. The idea of an immortal and infallible ruler is the basis for the modern crown, which has a more metaphorical take on the idea. The Three had the right to rule simply because of what they were. The fact that they held power justified their sovereignty for three thousand years.

Even so, there were rebellions; however, these rebellions were more gambles to get attention than actual attempts at secession. The idea that the Triumvirate would fall, that the Three would lose their sovereignty, was absurd. They were immortal, had the strongest military in Cosmoria, and no rebel had ever so much as touched the capital. It was such a shock that rebellions began working during the War of the Final Transition that both sides had difficulty planning beyond the opening moves.
Government Overview
The Greater Martial Consilium, is a unitary state under a magocratic monarchy. Imperator Sebas is the current head of state and government. As for political divisions, the Consilium is divided between one grand duchy, four duchies, fifty-six margravates, twelve realms, four independent counties, and one seigniory. Each duchy has one species it represents known as the "dominant species." Humans rule the Grand Duchy of Drusidia, Vexlores the Duchy of Rune-Err, Gainge the Duchy of Amme, Farlas the Duchy of Mahou, and Demi-Vexlores the Duchy of Vrch. No particular species controls the Seigniory of Vrch. The Entente of Ventemir is only partially under the control of the Consilium; it would be a second grand duchy if fully admitted. Were it fully admitted, the Entente would be the seventh duchy and renamed to the "Duchy of the Four" in reference to its four member-species (Humans, Atlins, Orcubor, and Legions).

The Administrator, the de facto leader of The Three, responded by exterminating much of the life in Martial Space. This attack, an attempt to destroy Ma'eau who sided with the rebels, destroyed the Triumvirate. The Three went their separate ways and left their territory mostly ungoverned. They still officially had control over it, leading to every subsequent government declaring that they were the "rightful successor to the Triumvirate."
As a magocratic monarchy, the GM is ruled by individuals capable of using Thaumaturgy called Magi. The more powerful a Thaumaturgist is, the higher their rank. After some time, the most powerful magi families would come to rule the duchies. Due to this high concentration of Magi within the GM, the government cannot maintain its rule through force alone. Cooperation with local governments and power structures is essential for the government to maintain its dominance over the vast amount of territory it controls. Communities that demonstrate loyalty to the emperor are allowed to impose their own taxes, maintain their own laws, and are occasionally exempt from paying tribute to the central government. The most effective emperors have balanced the interests of the various factions within the GM including local governments, the nobility, the merchant classes, and the military.

Political Divisions
The Kaisers
Titania ended up with the lion's share of the Triumvirate's territory. She organized it into Florenta, a federation of "Consortia" each ruled by a "caesar." Humans on Aegyn, their leader called a Kaiser, formed Erstes Konsortium, having refused to accept the more humble Aegyn Consortium. The Kaisers based their right to rule on the claim that, since Aegyn sided with the loyalists, it held all legitimacy. They paid no mind to other groups claiming the same, not that they needed to considering their well-preserved pre-war infrastructure.

A thorn in Florenta's side since its inception, Erstes Konsortium proved unable to replace the Triumvirate. Even after dominating Florenta for over a century, conquest of non-humans proved difficult. At the same time, all other progeny of the Triumvirate faced the same problem. The only people who could unite Martial Space were deities, not monarchs who invoked their name.

Gran Rubedo
Central Government
The idea ofMars would give a new meaning to what it meant to be "sovereign." The Rubedists, Mars' worshipers, became the largest political force in Erstes Konsortium by 8800. Powerful warriors devoted to the idea of a "glorious war to restore Human sovereignty," the Rubedists obliterated both Ma'eau and Titania, the two most meddlesome Triumvirs. The Rubedists believed that sovereignty lay not with those who ruled but in the hearts of those devoted to Mars, the ultimate sovereign.
The central government, based in the Grand Duchy of Drusidia, is itself divided in two branches. The two branches are the Senate and the Dynasty, both of which possessing their own powers and responsibilities. Since the War of the Ancients, this balance of power had been roughly the same due to a document known as the "Edict of Decency." This document, written by Imperatrix Wren, is meant to be a binding document. Despite the near absolute power the emperor wields, it has only rarely been violated as it would be thoroughly unwise to do so.

This group of radicals took power in 8875 CE, transitioning the church of Gran Rubedo to a state of the same name. By this point, they had accepted all intelligent species within "Martial Space," the territory "graced by Mars," worthy of their god's rule. At this time, however, Mars was only a religious idea. While worshipers of Mars certainly gained increased fighting prowess, they were Paladins, a common phenomenon in history. The worship of Mars became the default religion, heavily syncretizing with Ibaradism. The idea of the "sovereign" as a divinely appointed ruler created an absolute monarchy. The region had a strategic position, resources, and a rapidly growing population, but consistently incompetent emperors immune to any criticism drove their empire into the ground.
The Dynasty
Main Article: Verres Dynasty

As Gran Rubedo became more powerful, Mars began manifesting in the universe. While controversial, most Rubedists believe Hal Drusus II to be Mars' second incarnation. Since the death of Hal Drusus II, Mars often interceded on behalf of Rubedist armies. Here was the Blessing of Mars, the right to rule as given by a new deity. Rulers of Gran Rubedo, called supreme leaders, had a rough idea about how to curry Mars' favor. However, keeping Mars content grew difficult as Gran Rubedo faced instability.
The most powerful family line, called the Verres Dynasty, rules Drusidia and has the emperor at its head. Unlike the other noble lines, the Verres Dynasty is not made up of one bloodline but every noble bloodline at once. Anyone descended from any GM noble, no matter how distant, can be inducted into the Verres Dynasty.

The State as Divine
The Emperor (Imperator) of the Consilium has an almost divine right to rule as sanctioned by the Blessing of Mars. The Blessing of Mars is a phenomenon in which the collective consciousness of every single previous emperor, called "Mars," selects the next ruler. Any descendant of the first emperor, also referred to as Mars, can be blessed, granting them the powerful thaumaturgical abilities needed to assert their dominance over the other interests in the government. As such, the emperors are essentially deified.
Tenshi, an independent state outside of Martial Space, was so much more competently run that the small territory managed to conquer much of Martial Space. The Ursa Syndicate was a trade syndicate that allied itself with Tenshi for their similar beliefs. Both believed that the state, not the monarch, was divinely appointed. This belief, practically a worship of the act of governance, prompted both organizations to unite in 8953 CE. Together, they conquered Gran Rubedo's territory.

Despite refraining from Gran Rubedo's rituals, the diarchs Meiko Drusus and Nicodemus Drusus had the Blessing of Mars. With divine backing, Tenshi and the Ursa Syndicate formed the Dominion of Astraeus. Governing well was a divine action and Mars seemed to agree so long as good governance meant the people were satisfied. This insight, that Mars was concerned with the will of the people, their desires, and their satisfaction, made rule far easier.
The dominance of the emperor is based on their ability to lead the diet as well as their ability to consolidate power from other institutions. The emperor is the chief authority in the nation and has the right to declare war, ratify treaties, and negotiate with foreign leaders. While originally the emperor's power was far more monarchical, since the end of Jezebel II's reign, it has become increasingly constitutional; with well-defined powers and limits on said powers. While the emperor is the highest authority within the GM, they are held accountable by the interests of other institutions and powerful individuals.

War of the Ancients
While the emperor is a powerful thaumaturgist, often the most powerful in the galaxy at any given time, their practical source of authority comes from the military. Maintaining such a vast nation is impossible for even legendary Magi, let alone a single individual. The military is paid by the imperial treasury and is kept loyal by access to these funds. Upon the succession of a new emperor, they must quickly gain the respect and trust of various generals and nobles. While emperors are usually legitimized by the Blessing of Mars, particularly weak instantiations of the Blessing are said to betray a low confidence by Mars in that particular emperor. Occasionally, the emperor needs to prove their worthiness to rule only to then be able to effectively rule the GM.
During the War of the Ancients, two worlds collided that had not since well before the Common Era. A civilizational conflict broke out roughly between the descendants of the Triumvirate and the descendants of Sedrua. As the contradiction between the existence of Overlords and the existence of civilization boiled over, nations chose whether to become typical civilizations or playthings for deific entities. Despite Mars' godly standing, Mars was far from an overlord, but representative of the people.

As the war began, Confederacy of Borealis led the side of civilization while the Quintet Payotari Association and Sedrua supported the Overlords. As Aylathiya erupted into a war whose scale was unknown until then, both sides fought hard for their ideals. In the end, the side of civilization won as Thonde Yutira died, throwing Sedrua into disarray. While the Dominion annexed Sedrua, the QPA was embargoed and cut off from outside trade. To prevent the new territory from breaking away, it gained representation in a central senate called the Greater Martial Consilium.
The Emperor does not have the right to pass laws but can sign edicts which are essentially equivalent to the executive orders found in democratic governments. These edicts must operate within the confines of the law and are executed by the Diet, the emperor's cabinet.

Jezebel's War and Contemporary Sovereignty
Directly beneath the emperor is a group of 4,096 individuals known as Censors which are responsible for the operation of various bureaus and agencies. Together, the Censors form a council known as the Diet. The Diet is essentially a military body that is responsible for running the justice system, internal policing, and otherwise maintaining the authority of the emperor. Independent from the military, the Diet is free to engage in small-scale military conflict or the creation of expeditionary forces that answer to the Diet instead of the military.
The conflict between the Confederacy and the aristocracy led to Jezebel's War. This massive conflict saw the ideas of divine rule clash with rule by every individual. Despite the Confederacy losing the conflict, its ideas would win. Imperatrix Wren, who was sympathetic to its cause, took power by containing Mars. Wren was adamant that she had no right to rule save for by the consent of the governed. The populace made up Mars and thus had an equal claim to power. The war determined who would rule, and it was the people who would ultimately earn this right.

The merchant class, suppressed for years by the aristocracy, took advantage of their newly found rights to greatly expand trade. The Consilium began opening up to external commerce beyond merely taxing freighters that passed through its territory. With a new liberal economy, the Consilium is rapidly growing in population, wealth, and influence.
The Senate
Main Article: Martial Senate

Society
The Senate comprises 105 individuals known as Autarchs which each represent the interests of the various factions within the Greater Martial Consilium. The title of "Autarch" is granted by the Senate itself to powerful individuals within the GM to facilitate communication. While their are far too many local interests for each one to have an Autarch, the most powerful institutions (save for the Consortiae) each are represented in the Senate.
Mars is central to the governance of the Greater Martial Consilium. This new being, a disturbance in the Noosphere, or collective thought, was at first an idea, the representation of the people of Martial Space. With time, the idea would become increasingly literal as its worshippers gained preternatural abilities in conflict as though they gained the favor of some deity. Eventually, Mars would become an intelligent force capable of actively making decisions about what it wanted for Martial Space which rarely, if ever, agreed with the government ruling it. The first time the government captured Mars was in 8859 CE. They contained the being within Imperatrix Ymir, representing their ultimate sovereignty.

The concept of Mars being the embodiment of the people has greatly influenced the government and politics of Martial Space. While the idea of Mars was originally Human, it is believed that every intelligent being in Martial Space contributes to sustaining the entity. Not much is known about the exact mechanics, but this reality has created a single national identity across species. The idea that there is a significant difference between species with even very different biochemistries has become absurd. External species are regarded as simple "barbarians," untouched by the glory of Mars and therefore chasing after "pagan" religions.
The most powerful Autarchs, the Dukes of the GMs various duchies, have a disproportionate sway over much of the Senate; their votes each determining or influencing the voting of dozens or other aligned Autarchs. Plebeians and plebeian organizations, even if they are powerful such as the merchants, are not allowed to become Autarchs. The rest of the Autarchs are mostly Margraves, the heads of certain orders of Palladins (more information below), and other classes of noble. There are 3 Autarchs that are foreigners. Two are from the Entente of Ventemir and one Krystallaus. These nations have influence over the GM and, in exchange, the GM has peaceful relations with them.

The Greater Martial Consilium is mostly a post-scarcity society; most citizens who live in developed areas have access to everything they need to live an average lifespan. This lifespan of 200 years is quite average for Aylathiya, brought down by high competition for the Thaumic technology required to maintain consciousness for longer. For those who can afford it, the average life span is not much better, just 250 years.
The Senate is responsible for passing laws and managing the central bank of the Greater Martial Consilium. Additionally, the senate appoints members to the Diet if the emperor is unfit or otherwise unavailable. The Senate gains legitimacy through its representation of the GMs powerful groups. Ignoring the Senate would be a fatal mistake for either the military or the emperor, causing its will to be unofficially absolute. Its control of the central bank also forces the merchants to obey its will, making the Senate the de facto most powerful organization within the GM.

Government Overview
The Military
The Greater Martial Consilium is an ultra-decentralized corporatist nation. Imperator Sebas Blanc-Drusus is the current head of state and government. As for political divisions, they are not determined by territory but by collegia or corpora. Ranked groups control portions of the economy, governance, and much of the military. The Consilium classifies these groups according to a tier system and receive representatives proportional accordingly. Currently, there are 50 organizations represented within the Consilium ranging from tier I to VI. There are a handful of individuals who qualify as "corpora" and even a few machines that also claim the title.
The military was originally formless with no permanent command structure save for the nobles whose troops they contributed to it. At any given time, the military was merely an alliance of thousands of nobles across Martial Space that could succumb to infighting at any time. There was little standardization, coordinating troop movements was an arduous task, and disagreements amongst nobles would greatly hamper the effectiveness of this early military.

Due to essentially being composed of thousands of civilizations, the central government cannot maintain its rule through force alone. Cooperation with local governments and power structures is essential for the government to maintain its dominance over the vast territory it controls. Communities that demonstrate loyalty to the emperor are allowed to impose their taxes, maintain their laws, and are occasionally exempt from paying tribute to the central government. The most effective emperors have balanced the interests of the various factions: local governments, the collegia, the merchant classes, and the military.
After the creation of the Dominium of United Duchies, influence from Tenshi and its much more structured military would cause Martial military forces to change. As they modernized their militaries, a permanent standing force was developed, equipment standardized, and the nobles largely removed from their positions within it. Nobles would still be able to draw on their local populace for military units, however. The combined military might of Martial Space at the time arguably made the Dominium the most powerful military in Via Aylathiya while it was in place.

The Nobility
Even as the Dominium fell, this structured military remained in tact. For a time, Drusidia, the Duchy it was based in, would become a Junta state with a puppet emperor in charge of it. Eventually, the Martial Senate would form as powerful nobles from across Martial Space united to keep the military in check. During the Senatus-Generalis War, lasting from 76,317 CE to 76,944 CE, the military was subjugated and its leaders killed. The modern united Martial military formed at this time, with various Senators, now called Autarchs, taking the reigns from the generals. Today, the Autarchs have largely become generals as the noblity's ability to raise their own armies have been eroded by policy put forth by the current emperor, Imperator Sebas.
The Nobility of Martial Space, a distinct class created during the days of the Dominion of Astraeus, maintains a large amount of power to this day. They enjoy certain privileges not afforded to the "commoners," which means that the nobility gets representation in government while the commoners do not. Most noble titles are inherited, but many are elected positions. The nobility originated with the oligarchs who ruled Erstes Konsortium; many court practices, titles, and families have managed to remain relevant from this ancient state. The Kingdom of Sarepha has also had a tremendous influence on the nobility, introducing the idea of marriage to the political landscape.

Ranking
The Peerage represent all allods, the sovereign units of the Consilium. Ranking corresponds to voting power, with rank Ⅰ allods having one vote and rank Ⅵ allods having one sixth of a vote. Any noble can be made into a vassal of another, either through declaration of the Imperator or through selling the title. All allodial titles of rank Ⅲ or less have vassal equivalents. Vassals vote in conjunction with their master, called a suzerain.

Minor Nobility
The Consortiae
Minor nobility are relics of the older system and do not carry official power. Most of this rank are senior officials within the Aurora Commission.
The Consortiae (Called "Zaibatsu" until recently) are large industrial and financial conglomerates whose size and scope allow them to have significant power within the Consilium. Comprised entirely out of plebeians instead of the nobility, the rapid increase of power the Consortiae represents the Consilium's transition to free-market capitalism and the consequential increase in power of the merchant classes.

Having resisted any attempts to reform them out of existence, the Consortiae have proven to be an integral part of GM governance.

Structure
Their general structure is a family-owned holding company on the top, with a bank which financed the large number of subsidiaries each owns. They were based on the Tenshin model for control over their largest company, Takanashi Antimatter.

{| class="wikitable" border="1" width="100%"
The Consortiae are the heart of the GM economy, they themselves controlling over half of the nation's GDP. In many cases, their power rivals that of even certain margraves. In many cases, the Central Government and Military have no choice but to comply to demands put in place by the Consortiae, especially if the majority of them support a given position. While having no official power, their influence is obvious and essentially a de facto part of the government.

Local Governance
Local governance varies wildly, ranging from the plutocracies or juntas controlled by the Consortiae or Military, to democracies and commonwealths controlled by the people. Generally, planets within the duchies are constitutional fiefdoms ruled by a mostly symbolic noble and a parliament. What qualifies as "local" varies wildly. Occasionally planets, star systems, or large tracts of space hundreds of light years across qualify as "local." While in other instances there is room for dozens of local governments in the same system.

Humans are the premier and founding species of the Consilium. They make up 26.7 percent of the population and are, by far, the most influential species within it. Over two thirds of all the emperors have been human. Other government positions, such as ambassadors to other nations, are also far more likely to be Human. Unlike most Humans in the rest of the local universe, Martial Humans possess six digits on each limb. They are, on average, shorter, more likely to posses thaumaturgic abilities, more likely to have heterochromia, and generally naturally appear more gaunt than the average human.

Humans in Martial Space, in addition to the higher rates of thaumaturgic abilities, are far more likely to develop an ability to use an ability known as The Blessing of Mars. While responsible for choosing the emperor, the Blessing of Mars acts as a single heritage for all humans in the galaxy. In addition to creating a strong cultural and national identity, the Blessing of Mars is known to subtly influence behavior of a small number of individuals in pursuit of an as of yet unknown end.

Throughout history, they had rivaled Humans as the premier species of the Consilium and, at virtually equal populations, may once again rule as emperors. When the first Martial nation collapsed, they would go on to become the dominant species of the Martial Space using their numerous advantages, one of which being their possession of the Holo's Ring.

Holo's Ring is a large mega-structure left behind from an ancient civilization. It has not been fully functional throughout most of its history. The Ring is covered in a series of runes that have been modified to serve the ends of Rune-Err, the duchy of the Vexlores.

Gainge are an artificial near-human species native to the region around the Demiurge black hole. Through the usage of extensive genetic modification, they made themselves appear more human than their original form. The intention was to gain favor with the humans in Drusidia and it worked exactly as intended. As a result, Amme and Drusidia have the best relations of any of the Duchies and have never once betrayed each other throughout history. They view each other as "sister species."
!Voting Power

As far back as their records extend, the Gainge have lived on the surface of a Birch Planet in the center of Martial Space. It came complete with an atmosphere, water, and a complete ecosystem containing fauna from across the universe. It is unknown who or what created the mega-structure; however, most hypothesize it was the Triumvirate Civilization's Administrator. They eventually advanced to the point of leaving their world, but just in time for a visit from the original Human settlers of Martial Space. To this day, the vast majority of the Gainge call Demiurge their home as it has just recently been entirely colonized.

This layer of mostly intangible "substance" over their internals protects them from threats by being basically untouchable. This layer is maintained via Thaumaturgy. Were the physical brain to be damaged, the entire Naidaran would fall into pieces.

They are one of the most common species in the Consilium as well as one of the best at warfare. Their duchy, Naidaro, is one of the few to field infantry given their incredibly resilient nature. Naidarans are unable to improve on their naturally-evolved Thaumic abilities.

As a eusocial species, various roles are divided amongst different classes of individuals. The three non-sapient modes are the "workers," "breeders," and "drones." Workers are asexual, physically strong, expendable, and make up the vast majority of the population. Breeders are female and are, as their name suggests, those that maintain the population of the Farlas. Drones are male. They are the most unique of the modes as they have large wings in place of arms. Making up less than 0.5% of Mahou's members, Farlas are responsible for commanding the hoards of workers. Each one has access a minimum of 20 workers accompanying them, while some have over thousands obeying their commands.

Colonies are organized into Arch-colonies. Lastly, the Arch-colonies, behaving as individual eusocial organisms do in a smaller hive, make up Mahou. The dukeship is held not in the hands of an individual but in the hands of Mahou as a concept.

Economy
Economy
The economy of the region is measured solely in energy production. Capable of producing a little over 1 L⊙ worth of energy, the vast productive value of the Greater Martial Consilium can hardly be understated. Despite rampant disorder claiming most of the GM's territory, its raw productive value is bested by only a handful of nations. Universally, the Consilium ranks among economic superpowers for the sheer volume of trade entering and leaving its borders.
As a post-scarcity society, each civilian has a certain allocation of energy, divided into units called "Fex," that can be spent on buying goods. Originally, the economy of Martial Space was entirely feudal, relying each individual paying a large portion of their energy to the local lord in exchange for being allocated living space, goods, and protection. As living space, goods, and protection become increasingly commodified, the Fex are becoming the means of exchange in a capitalist economy. The nobles of old have either kept up with the changing economy or are left behind as wealthy plebeians compete with them for power and influence.

The vast majority of the economy is controlled privately or by large para-state organizations. These organizations, operating more similarly to governments than companies, are often democratic and non-profit, thus giving their constituents vast amounts of wealth. The state controls most of the rest of the economy, whether in the form of leftover aristocrats which have become more akin to land-owners, or in the central government. The remaining portion of the economy is controlled by large-scale private corporations, small businesses, and small worker cooperatives. They usually align themselves with some larger organization or another, leaving little room for large independent companies. Consequently, wealth is very widely distributed and somewhat democratically controlled.
Economic History
Before the reign of Imperator Jayvyn, the economy of Martial Space was a command-based economy. It hardly qualified as post-scarcity as the government would simply ration out every good, with any and all trade forbidden. For the economy to grow, the government would invest in more efficient technologies to make each individual more productive. Most people would end up doing little to contribute to the economy as the ultra-automated economy had little room for workers. After a time, most workers would gradually convert to peasants, living on the land at the behest of their local lord. The titles became official as the Kingdom of Rune-Err would become integrated into the Martial economy. With its official peasant classes, the entire Martial economy would soon come to resemble it.

Currency
Starting with the creation of the Dominium of United Duchies in 60,134 CE, the economy began modernizing but was still dominated by the nobility. The Zaibatsu, large conglomerates, created by the Tenshin nobility had a huge influence on the Dominium's economy, court practices, and culture. Any noble family worth anything would create a similar organization mostly for trade with external powers. The Duchy of Amme, in particular, began rapidly transition to free market capitalism and would have were it not for the collapse of the Dominium and the destruction of the economic order of Martial Space.
The lifeblood of the Consilium is antimatter. In terms of raw amount, over 10^18 kilograms of the substance exist within the Consilium at any given time. This vast sum of energy, which is equivalent to wealth, represents about 300% of the Consilium's monthly energy production, such is the importance of the accumulation of this substance.

The Greater Martial Consilium will only accept antimatter from outside nations. Fiat currencies are despised and even antimatter-backed currencies, with two exceptions, are also scorned. The only two currencies accepted besides raw antimatter are Carosi and Fex, both backed by a gram of antimatter. Since transporting this volatile substance is incredibly costly, Carosi and Fex can be transported instead. Existing as pure data, they can even be transferred across encrypted channels for very little energy. Capable of being redeemed at what are known as "banks," or incredibly energy-dense objects, these currencies are the only two stable enough to be trusted. Carosi are redeemable at Mili and Petra while Fex are redeemable in major cities such as Enyo.
The modern economy of the Consilium emerged under the reign of Impeatrix Wren starting in 91,001 CE. This empress massively reduced trade barriers, allowed plebeians to own land, and created an economic policy that, while less efficient than full automation, gave incentives for people to invest in growing the economy and industrial output of Martial Space. These policies still form the basis of the Consilium's economy to this day, causing it to grow sharply as the region stabilized.

Modern Economy
Trade
Since resources come at a premium within the GM, most organizations specialize in one resource or another to synthesize. Vast fusion arrays capable of synthesizing elements beyond iron, especially trans-uranic elements, occupy virtually every star system. Imports from neighboring nations for small quantities of much cheaper materials are often necessary for less widely-produced materials. Every second, over a giga-ton of material, is imported into the Greater Martial Consilium, mostly from Sagittarium, the Commonwealth of Aggregate Aylathiya, and, lately, much of Florathel. The Consilium only pays for goods in antimatter.
The Consilium, despite its size, still has a fairly small gross domestic product compared to other nations of its population. The reason is the huge amount of imports that it needs in order to make do in the resource-poor Martial Space. Currently, the Consilium is engaging in talks with the nations of Enkatz, Krystallaus, Rendell, and the Fusion of Crowns to create an economic organization called the "Martial Commonwealth" similar in organization to the Commonwealth of Aggregate Aylathiya. This Commonwealth would coordinate closely with the federal government of the Boreal Federacy in order for this deal to work as well as gain support by popular vote in each of the nations attempting to join. Tenshi may also join the Martial Commonwealth if talks go well.

As far as exports are concerned, processed goods, war vessels, and Eitr are common. Vast amounts of trade flow through Martial Space from other nations, due in large part to the Hyperlanes that pass through Martial Space. While historically taxed, now the Consilium simply monitors merchant vessels and only taxes certain strategic materials to encourage local production.
External trade remains high as the current emperor makes great effort to coordinate with the Consilium's neighbors, including Sedrua, a historical enemy of Martial Space. The Consilium has made no efforts to increase trade with the Imperial People's Commonwealth of the Cemyak Nations, as this state ideologically clashes with the Consilium's state doctrine of Neo-Terranism. While the latest emperors have all influenced Neo-Terranist thought to be less disruptive of trading with historical enemies, Cemyak's claims of being "Terran" are almost viewed as heretical by the Consilium's people.

History

Origin of the Crown

Gran Rubedo

The idea ofMars would give a new meaning to what it meant to be "sovereign." The Rubedists, Mars' worshipers, became the largest political force in Erstes Konsortium by 8800. Powerful warriors devoted to the idea of a "glorious war to restore Human sovereignty," the Rubedists obliterated both Ma'eau and Titania, the two most meddlesome Triumvirs. The Rubedists believed that sovereignty lay not with those who ruled but in the hearts of those devoted to Mars, the ultimate sovereign.

The State as Divine

War of the Ancients

Jezebel's War and Contemporary Sovereignty

Society

Government Overview

The Greater Martial Consilium is an ultra-decentralized corporatist nation. Imperator Sebas Blanc-Drusus is the current head of state and government. As for political divisions, they are not determined by territory but by collegia or corpora. Ranked groups control portions of the economy, governance, and much of the military. The Consilium classifies these groups according to a tier system and receive representatives proportional accordingly. Currently, there are 50 organizations represented within the Consilium ranging from tier I to VI. There are a handful of individuals who qualify as "corpora" and even a few machines that also claim the title.

The Nobility

Economy

The economy of the region is measured solely in energy production. Capable of producing a little over 1 L worth of energy, the vast productive value of the Greater Martial Consilium can hardly be understated. Despite rampant disorder claiming most of the GM's territory, its raw productive value is bested by only a handful of nations. Universally, the Consilium ranks among economic superpowers for the sheer volume of trade entering and leaving its borders.

Currency
