Oblivione are a Condevic classification of entities which have been converted into a mechanical state of Undeath through varying forms and methods. It is a condition which is both totally unique within Creation, and one which is wholly un-uniform, as Oblivione manifest in numerous physical forms, ranging from Amanoid, to entirely unrecognizable constructs. Despite this physical variety in form; certain unifying traits persist across all Oblivione throughout history. Foremost among these is the prerequisite of a once-living host at their core, as all Oblivione originate from biological lifeforms, most often sapient ones.

Often: Oblivione are in a state of "true-immortality;" in that their physical form is ultimately irrelevant to their continuance as an entity. The Remnant Spirit of a being remains extant within material reality of Ambrosia; albeit in a state which exists in a form largely inert, or a fragmented and fractured state.

Major Occurrences

Dyad Rule

The first occurrence of Oblivione within the Ambrosia Galaxy would be the emergence of the composed "Serephage," originating with the Seraphnim commander Urdrathmoor. In 70,000 TI (Time Immemorial), amidst the devastation caused by the Void of Antaroth, Urdrathmoor initiated a process of self-mechanization in an effort to protect himself from the annihilating force. Believing the transformation would render him immune to the Void’s effects, he mechanized his own form and subsequently imposed the same process upon others, creating a cohort of mechanical entities intended to endure the encroaching collapse.

This attempt, however, would ultimately fail, with most succumbing to its Antarothic essence all the same. While the transformation altered their physical state, it offered no true defense against the Void, whose Acreative essence targeted Identity itself and not biology. The Void of Antaroth operated by stripping all original Creative meaning, continuity, Intent, and essence; thus the process of becoming Serephage ultimately proved ineffective as a safeguard.

Etymology Era

In the aftermath of the Seraphnim's deployment of "Finality," which saturated the Ambrosia Galaxy with Alizarin — the fundamental form of finite within Amaranth — the concept of the Oblivione became central to the actions of Mystara, the principal actor of the Etymology Era. As Finality had eradicated all forms of immortal existence by imposing a universal condition of mortality, rendering eternal life categorically unattainable within Ambrosia’s newly finite state. Mystara, however, sought to circumvent this ontological constraint, developing methods to persist beyond the imposed metaphysical limits of Alizarin's dominion.

Mystara’s primary innovation in this pursuit was the technique of Consciousness Melding; a process through which a sentient mind could be preserved in a Remnant state of Undeath. This allowed a fragment of identity to endure, locked into an artificially sustained continuity, while the larger portion of the individual’s selfhood was permitted to decay into entropy and dissolve into the Great Collective of Libation; the final dispersal of being. Though incomplete and inherently fractured, this method enabled the creation of new Oblivione forms within a cosmos where full immortality was no longer viable.

Their potency was further enhanced through the use of solidified material derived from her Noctillius; her personal variant of the Thavmaphage' which itself is a manifestation of Thavma’s own expression of the Void of Antaroth. This substance imbued each Oblivione with capabilities that vastly exceeded those of nearly all known living entities, granting them access to forces of strength typically inaccessible to mortal or biological life.

Contemporary Occurrences

In the modern galaxy, instances of true Oblivione are considerably rarer, typically appearing as isolated individuals rather than the widespread formations seen in Ambrosia's more anicent eras. Among the most significant of these contemporary manifestations is the "Cyber Project Zero;" a cybernetic initiative of the Typhonian Order that employed genetic and cognitive material derived from deceased relatives of Seven Novum; one of the last surviving members of the Inomeni race of the Isariel. The result was the creation of immensely powerful entities, each possessing destructive potential immense enough to threaten annihilation of the entire galaxy if left unchecked.

One of the most well-known among these contemporary occurrences is that of the "Phase-Absent" program, initiated by the Sanlagosa Concordant. This cybernetic project aimed to elevate the most physically formidable of the Concordant's dissonants into mechanized superweapons; augmenting their already powerful bodies with mechanical enhancements, and implanting within their minds the most advanced military strategies available to the Concordant command structure.

Despite its ambitious design, the program ultimately failed due to the onset of Mechromnesia; a principle of the Cognita-Mechandra, the universal law governing sentience and sapience within constructed beings. This condition caused a systematic cognitive degradation in all units, reducing them over time to little more than standard cybernetic combat drones; akin to that of a robotic zombie. As a result, the Phase-Absent program was terminated, as its promise of synthetic military supremacy was lost to the unavoidable entropy of artificial consciousness.

Physical

The physical composition of individual Oblivione varies significantly depending on individual; largely influenced by the species from which they originate. As each Oblivione is created from a once-living being, and given that the totality of the galaxy's history was composed of hundreds of thousands of intelligent species, the resulting forms differ widely. However; limbs, stature, and proportions are typically retained or restructured from the biological template of the original host, leading to a high degree of morphological diversity between Oblivione; particularly when comparing those derived from non-Amanoid species.

Despite this however; several structural elements remain consistent across all known Oblivione, regardless of origin or historical context. First; the foundational core of each is constructed from a formerly living individual, serving as the biological substrate upon which further modifications are imposed. The choice of host varies widely, but all Oblivione share this essential reliance on a sentient, once-organic entity as the base of their form.

Second; each Oblivione undergoes mechanical augmentation through the integration of various components; commonly including metal plating, cybernetic extensions, and both internal and external robotic systems. The degree and nature of these augmentations differ significantly between individuals, shaped by the anatomy of the original species and the intended function of the resulting construct.

Powers and Abilities

While the powers and abilities of Oblivione vary depending on origin, construction, era, and individual design; most exhibit baseline capabilities that far surpass those of conventional lifeforms. On average, Oblivione possess the following traits:

Enhanced Strength

Most Oblivione demonstrate physical strength on monumental scales. This inherent strength is contingent on the species in question which the Oblivione is derived from, with exceptionally powerful species or individuals seeing greater increases. However; even the most average species is granted the ability of annihilating lesser celestial structures, tearing mountain ranges from their roots, fracturing tectonic plates, and, in some cases, crushing moons or small planets through raw physical force alone.

Enhanced Speed

Like strength, speed too depends on the inherent agility of the given host, though all Oblivione have their movement capabilities often exceed light-speed by multiple orders of magnitude. Oblivione can traverse interstellar distances in moments, phase through enemy formations before detection systems can respond, and strike targets faster than neurological processes can register. This speed extends to reaction time, precision, and spatial awareness, rendering them nearly untrackable in conventional combat environments.

Void and Amaranth Survival

Oblivione are fully capable of surviving in interstellar space indefinitely. They require no oxygen, pressure, or temperature regulation, and are unaffected by the disintegrating effects of Amaranth, which typically destroys unshielded beings. Many are equipped with internal Horizon-Effect Fields, generating a stabilizing metaphysical boundary akin to the effects produced by stellar bodies, allowing for continuous integrity in otherwise annihilative conditions.

Total Immortality

Inherently; individual Oblivione forms are immune to death by natural, artificial, magical, or divine means. Their bodies possess rapid or instantaneous regenerative functions, while their Remnant Spirits are interwoven with structural Oblivione form rendering them impervious to erasure, decay, or entropy. Destruction of physical form does not equate to functional cessation, and a total eradication of their Remnant Identity is required to purge them from the Presence of Totality.
