Burumal

Burumal is a medium-sized nation within the Parallelogram Cluster, which broke away from the lawless mess that is modern Marakat in 133. Establishing a functioning government, it quickly created diplomatic ties with the surrounding nations, but remains unrecognized by its parent. Burumal takes its name from the ancient Urann nation which existed around the time of Nephran in the region. Some elements of the Burumal government support an invasion of parts of Marakat, particularly the valuable, high-energy Tetrae and Ilidaria systems.
Clans of Azan

Among the most powerful forces within the rimward lobe of the Vernarca Nebula, the Clans of Azan are a fragmented society of clans ruled by the Azani species. There are numerous clans, ranging in size from a minuscule collection of asteroids to several star systems, with long-standing feuds by the signing of the Tarchannen Accords in 177 BC. One of the clans, Clan Veshar, joined the Vernarcan Federation in 99 AC, ratcheting up tension within Clan society as Clan Siratkar maintained its hardline anti-Federation stance.
Communities of Siron and Khoasin

A relatively isolated and low-tech faction, the Communities of Siron and Khoasin is a supranational entity founded by the Qat'hertha species in order to facilitate the planned evacuation of their homeworld of Siron in the face of their home star's beginning transition into a red giant. Very little contact exists between this nation and the others in the Vernarca Nebula, as the combined government is relatively isolationist in nature. A direct path to the Ters System would go through territory claimed by the Obilehem Intelligence, making sustained diplomatic relations even more difficult.
Etuernia

A small, authoritarian state on the edge of the Pillars of Dawn, Etuernia is sandwitched between the Vernarcan Federation and the Kaegan Sovereignty. After decades of eroding democratic norms, Etuernia fell towards authoritarianism starting in 31 AC, resulting in the rejection of an attempt to join the federation 70 years later due to gross sentient rights violations. Due to its position, Etuernia is both under the Federation's protection from the xenophobic Kaegan Sovereignty and under embargo from it, leaving the nation in a limbo to this day.
Falacian Dominion

The Falacian Dominion was among the largest powers in the Vernarca Nebula prior to its fragmentation over the past century. Beginning its age of expansion almost 600 years ago, the Dominion's conquests proved instrumental to the history of the region as a whole, and the changing personalities on the Ruby Throne greatly affected all who lived anywhere near Darossa. Uniquely for such authoritarian nations, biological species identity matters surprisingly little to social status, and there are several species which have been given the title of "Falaci" after attaining whatever the Dominion decides is True Civilization under its aegis. The Falacian Dominion lost its superpower status in a long decline beginning with the Federation-supported breakaway of the Avor and Lekna provinces alongside most of Istrin's Cloud, and reaching its peak with the separation of the Falacian High Rule in 122. Today, the Dominion's power is but a shadow of its former self.

When Emperor Kel attempted to disband the Imperial Guard and removed the organization's influence on the Ruby Throne, the surviving Guard memnbers were exiled to the comparatively minor world of Taiee. They established a rival claimant to the Ruby Throne in Emperor Kahmar and claimed to be the true ruler of Falacian space, beginning the Falacian Civil War. Today, the conflict continues to rage in a quieter, colder fashion as both governments attempt to undermine each other to the point that either of them would succeed in an actual invasion. At the moment, it is unclear which side would win in a pitched battle, but the fight would severely damage the entire region and exacerbate a collapse into chaos akin to that suffered by Marakat several decades prior.
Federate of Varaltin-Zartha

A minuscule nation on the edge of the Hadauk Cluster, the Federate of Varaltin-Zartha was one of many breakaway states originating in the years leading up to the Tyran War. After the war, the Federate was under the military protection of the Falacian Dominion during the Era of Good Feelings, but the formation of the Tyran Free State led to Varaltin-Zartha switching sides again as the Dominion began to revert back to its imperialist ways. Today, the Federate of Varaltin-Zartha enjoys a uniquely neutral position in the politics of the Vernarca Nebula, lending it an outsized influence over its surroundings.
First Federation

The First Federation is the eldest surviving civilization in the Vernarca Nebula, and it is not close. Originating from the last remnants of several species affected by the Edron Holocaust roughly a million years ago, the First Federation spent much of its "existence" plugged into a highly slowed virtual world hidden deep within the gas giant Vejok in the barren Thasarus System. Only a minuscule contingent of the population was "awake" in the physical world, safeguarding the installation from potential Edron survivors, but the sighting of the VES Danakil in their system began the process of returning the rest of the First Federation to the real world. Despite existing in common with the other Vernarca Nebula nations for the first time in eons, they remain steadfastly isolationist.

One of the oldest nations in the Vernarca Nebula, the Thelsan Assembly existed largely unchanged for almost nine thousand years. After the War of the Sand King in the distant past, the ruling Thol Court made it almost impossible to change the workings of the government for fear of losing their place at the top of society, setting in motion the inexorable calcification and rot of Thelsan society. The population of the Assembly is dominated by the Bronze Thelsa and Gilded Thelsa, the latter of which held a de facto higher position prior to the War of the Broken Bow. At the close of the war, the capital world of Kyx was destroyed by the Void alongside many other worlds and systems of the Assembly, resulting in the death of the entire governmental apparatus and necessitating a reconstruction in the form of the Elaris Reforms.
