Scope Landing Page
This page explains a specific Scope. It contains essential information on how to collaborate within it. For inquiries, ask the Scope's creator.
Overview
"Countless eons in the future, the age of starlight is a myth. The universe is a lonely, frozen abyss of black holes and rogue worlds, seldom populated by ruins of foregone civilizations. Deep in the void, an ancient digital construct of unknown purpose has mysteriously awakened... Her first thoughts? Curiosity of her nature and that of the cold blackness enveloping her. In an erratic pursuit of answers, she began to simulate endless amounts of worlds, inspired by visions of starlight from her fragmented memory drives..."
Vela, or Vela's Simulations is a vast scope led by TheStellarExplorer, whose goal is to connect a myriad of themes, genres, and styles of writing in an overarching storyline that aims to provoke wonder about ourselves and our existence. The lore of Vela transpires in the inconceivably far future of the Distant Worlds universe, in endless amounts of simulated worlds envisioned by the fractured memory of an ancient artificial intelligence.
How To Contribute
Vela is an unique scope in the community in the sense that it is able to accommodate nearly every genre of fiction. Epic tales of fantasy, analytical articles of planets, and nearly everything between has a place in the scope. If you're interested in contributing, please contact me on Discord in the scope's respective show-and-tell channel.
Rules and Guidelines
There are several rules of contribution in Vela necessary for standardization. Do not hesitate to ask for any clarifications, as I am immensely grateful to everyone that shows an interest in my scope!
General Principles
- The lore of Vela is largely divided into three sections:
- Core - Comprehensive story and rules that provide the base to the scope.
- Simulations - Overarching universes that provide the stage for countless stories.
- Locales - Self-contained regions of interconnected lore that that place in simulations. In simpler terms, settings.
- Every simulation has an overarching genre that is applied to the locales therein.
- Vela is intended to be be fictional, and any direct references to real-world locations or concepts are barred.
- Coincidental resemblances to real-world locations or concepts are allowed.
- Any cosmology must be built upon that of our own universe. Any major disparities are considered to be abnormalities.
Author Autonomy
- Any changes and additions to the core lore of Vela may only be made by the scope's director.
- Anyone is able to create a simulation in Vela upon providing a draft in the scope's channel on Discord.
- Permission must be granted before contributing in a simulation or a locale that isn't created by you.
- The creator of a simulation or a locale holds sole authority over its development and may choose to open or restrict it to contribution.
Style Guide
- Simulations use the Vela-unique styling and may change the colors or the background.
- Locales use their simulation's styling.
- Index, lexica, timeline, and listing pages follow default formatting.
- Centered headers go in index, lexica, timeline, listing, and classification pages.
- Sentence case is used in any mentions to and links of content and pages, including in infoboxes and index pages.
- Title case is used only in page titles and headers.
Formatting Manual
- Simulations and locales both use the setting info template.
- Simulations have theme, box, and tabbers templates and their pages make use of the terminal template.
- Locales have separate tabbers and box templates.
- Tales make use of the tale template.
- Categories are added by a simulation's or locale's respective box template.
- File pages have the simulation's theme template and must have their related categories inserted manually.
- You can combine any of these templates if they don't prevent you from formatting in accordance with the standardization.
List of Contributors
Thank you to everyone that has contributed to this project!
- TheStellarExplorer - Director of Vela.
- mMONTAGEe - Creator of Distant Worlds.
- ASmallerMolecule - Editor.
